It does this by inhibiting myostatin molecules, which bind and signal through a receptor on the cell surface called the type IIB activin receptor (ActRIIB). ACE-031 is a recombinant fusion protein that is made by linking a portion of a human ActRIIB receptor to a portion of a human antibody.
